HELPFUL TIPS TO HELP MAXIMISE YOUR RECOVERY AND MANAGE SYMPTOMS.
Please note: The following instructions apply ONLY to those patients who have consulted the Pain Killer Hands Back Pain Center.
WATER: Drink plenty of water, especially after a treatment.
ICE PACK: Apply an ice pack that is wrapped in a cloth or light towel to the area that the PKH doctor has suggested for 10-15 minutes. No longer than 20 minutes. Repeat this every 2 hours for 2 days after the treatment. Ice is an effective and natural pain killer and anti-inflammatory. Whenever you experience swelling, redness or sharp/stabbing pain it is generally considered best to apply ice. Repeat until symptoms ease. Do not apply ice directly to bare skin. Always cover the ice pack with a towel or cloth.

SLEEP: On a firm bed. Sleep with one pillow only to support your head and neck. When getting out of bed, always roll to your side and use your hands to help you up as your legs drop off the edge. Do NOT sit up directly from laying on your back.
WHEN SLEEPING: Be sure that you have a good firm mattress. Do not sleep on your abdomen as it twists your neck. Sleep on your side with one or both knees slightly bent. If on your back, place pillow under knees if necessary.
FOOTWEAR: Wear flat shoes or shoes with low heels. Do not wear high heels, unless your Dr. PKH has given your approval.
WHEN DRIVING: The car seat should be firm and positioned so that you can operate the pedals with your knees slightly bent. On long drives, stop occasionally, get out of the car, stretch and move around. When getting in and out of the car attempt to keep the back as straight as possible.
GET IN & OUT OF THE CAR: Open the car door, and then turn around so that you are facing away from the car and reverse so that the backs of your legs are just touching the doorframe. Reach back to hold on to something stable, such as the seat or the doorframe then sit down with your butt on the seat first so that you are sitting sideways on the seat. Be careful not to hit your head on the top of the doorjamb. Then lift your both legs and swing your legs in and slide around so that you are facing front, To get out of the car, do the same steps in reverse order.
WALLETS: You should not sit with wallet in your back pocket, especially when driving. It can cause pelvic misalignment as well as pressure on the sciatic nerve.
INVEST: Invest n a good chair, pillow, and mattress – When you think about the amount of time you use these things each day, it’s worth it.
PHONE: Never cradle the phone between your neck and shoulder.
WHEN LIFTING: Use your leg muscles rather than your back.
EXERCISE: When your symptoms are relieved, regular exercise within your ability and tolerance is important. Your Dr. PKH knows which exercises are best for you and your particular condition.
CO - OPERATION: Co-operate with your Dr. PKH and be patient. Give yourself the time required for nature to affect a cure.
How Should I Feel After a Pain Killer Hands Treatment?
The Pain Killer Hands Spinal & Skeletal joint manipulative treatment to remove pressure on your nerves and re-balance your body structure can be a very powerful procedure. At the moment that a PKH corrects your vertebral misalignment, hundreds of bodily functions and activities are affected, the flow of nerve impulses over the spinal cord and spinal nerves is normalized and your body begins to renew and rebuild itself.
Restoring nerve impulses to the parts of the body supplied by the nerves involved including the heart, lungs, joints, muscles, tissues, skin, eyes and even the brain itself. Restoring normal nerve flow to these areas can bring relief from pain, and may also benefit the patient in other ways, such as allowing for a better nights sleep, reducing tension and stress, and in general, a healthier feeling.
Relief of Symptoms
You may find that your symptoms have begun to disappear, that the problems that you came to the PKH for have begun to lessen after the first treatment. And, there are some people who feel no difference after first treatment. That does not necessarily mean that they are not benefiting from their treatments, it just means that they’re not feeling any external reaction.
Treatment Reactions
You may experience minor side effects for a few days after PKH treatment. These may include headache, dizziness, discomfort, fatigue, muscle soreness or pain in the parts of the body that were treated. This condition is temporary and will soon disappear.
Your pain experience is individual, so your relief time is unique to you as well. After 3 weeks treatment period you can expect to go about your activities of daily living like an extended amount of sitting, bending, lifting and twisting.
No matter what disease or condition you have, you can benefit from a healthy spine. Spinal health can be as important for your overall healing as proper nutrition.
